Jigging Trip
Yesterday I had a chance to take a buddy and two of his retired Air Force colleagues out fishing. We headed to Locust Reef. The water was pretty stained still but the electronics were showing lots of fish. We started on the southeast side drifting towards the top of the reef. Started in 17 feet of water. Got 6 on our first drift so repeated. The wind started shifting and picking up during the next drift but we got 8 more so feeling good with 14 in the box in an hour. Our drift speed was .4 to .5 mph but increased quickly to .8 to 1.0 mph and we only got 3 more in the next hour and a half.
Dark purple was best in 3/4 ounce.
Inline planer board rods
What’s everyone using for in line planer boards. I use medium light okumas for big boards. Think I need a little more backbone?

Good afternoon All. Anyone know if the stations are open at Mazuriks and Huron yet? Hoping for my first trip out being a long Easter weekend. Thanks in advance.
Jigging up some more walleye
I took my son and one of his buddies out this afternoon for a little chilly fishing. We started at locust reef and picked up 3 in about an hour but it was too slow to stay. We moved further north about a mile and started slowly picking away at them. We spent another two hours there and ended up with about a dozen nice fish. We were jigging with dark colors in 5/8 or 3/4 ounce hair jigs. The wind was perfect when we first got out there around 3:00 but it laid down a little as the afternoon went on. The only thing missing was the sun. Water color was better the further out we went.
Head boat
I see the head boats (I think that is what it is called?) went out yesterday and came in with a 9 person limit on one and two shy on the other one. I am heading to Oak Harbor tomorrow for a few days, hope to get a limit for my grandson
Jigging Up Some Walleye
My son and I put the boat in this morning. After getting the fenders and lines in place, we went out to do some preseason scouting. The water in shallow was a little dirty so we ran out. The water cleared up before we got to locust reef so we used the sonar to look around some. There were 3 boats fishing about a quarter mile south of the reef but as we rode through there slowly, we didn’t mark many fish. Continued to the west side of the reef and started marking fish. We made a short drift there picking up one. Moved to the north side of the reef and drifted back along the west edge of the reef and picked up 5 more in about an hour and headed in to enjoy a good meal and warm up
