Happy new year
Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe New Year. Good luck fishing in the new year, fish on everyone!
Huron Walleye
Took a break from perch searching and trolled out of Huron, caught some tanks in 30-36 fow in front of the castle yesterday. Fruit dots bandit 70′ back and Floyd p10 on downrigger 25′ back then 15′ down caught the big fish. Fished from 1.30-5.30 ended with 10.
Wind was ripping out of the sw, speed 1.3-3.0. Had to put the top down and open the walk through on my Lund and just steer with the wind, no forward assist. Used the troller for quick adjustments. Small craft advisory, but from the winds from the SW and stayed in close enough we where in 1-2′ and following sea.the
Lots of mud coming out of the river, but cleared up about a mile out. Could see the cavitation plate, but not the prop. It was so windy that we only ran 2 flat lines and 2 downriggers, no boards. Thankfully the wind died by the time we were trailering.

Mazurik perch
Went out of mazurik yesterday on the hunt for perch. Ramp open, no docks, cleaning station closed, 20 rigs in the lot. Sign on the door of Highway…
Ice
Does anyone know if Mazurak ramp is open? (Ice free)
Thanks Mike

Mazurik Access Short Trip
I took a buddy to go after perch this morning: Hi-Way Bait had a note on the door that they are closed for 2 days, Herb’s sign reads that they open at 10 a.m., and Bay’s Edge was not open at 8:15 a.m. I brought along wintergreen alcohol shiners out of the freezer, so we launched at Mazurik and headed to the SE side of Kelley’s. We set up, and the sun came out for a little while, but couldn’t get a bite. So after an hour we got out our rods, boards, Bandits, and Flicker Minnows, and trolled towards Marblehead/Lakeside. We say some spotty marks, and ended up with 4 walleyes before we ran into the sprinkles. Headed on in before 1 p.m.
Nice eaters ranging from 19-22.5 inches, 3 of them were males. We were surprised to see that the docks had been pulled out while we were fishing. Nice part of the day on that part of the lake, very little wind, and very little traffic.
Erie Lowrance CMap or Navionics Card
I run a Lowrance HDS12 and heading to Erie this Spring. I’m from the midwest (Iowa) and was wondering which chip everyone prefers on Erie. Obviously, I have to purchase another chip since Erie is not in my region.
Thanks in advance,
FF
Post Fall Brawl advice?
I plan to make the trip over to Erie tomorrow and just wondered if anyone has been out recently and what areas are holding walleye. The weather has been so windy this fall that I’ve only made it out a couple times, but tomorrow looks like it will be favorable wind and bearable temps. At this point I plan to head out of Huron and probably check out the Cedar point area maybe 32 to 38 FOW. Any advice is greatly appreciated and I will be happy to post my results.
Dec 7th
Headed out this Saturday if anyone wants to work together. We are in brawl but will work together as we want numbers and if we get a big one that’s a bonus. Also safety this time of year. Launching out of Mazuricks most likely
Low water on western basin
I see the low water warnings being given from the strong west winds on Lake Erie. Been at least 55-60 years since I remember seeing mud rather than water in the western basin. As a young lad we had a cottage on the Portage river and recall seeing no water from long periods of strong westerly winds. Anyone living close by, please post some pics when the blowout takes place and see who recognizes the are when there is no water !! You will be surprised how no water changes the appearance of an area your familiar with…..hope everyone’s boats are pulled!!
