Dont know what to expect but going to fish Tuesday with the nice weather

Just a reminder this coming weekend, February 9, 10,11, is the annual Columbus Fishing Expo, or as it is now known, National Fishing Expo Columbus (they have a second show in Cincinnati March 1-2), at the Expo Center (State Fair fairgrounds).

Always good and fun to walk through all the exhibitors and see / find out what’s new (tackle, boats and boat equipment, travel destinations, organizations, charters, pretty much anything fishing or related and a few that aren’t) and attend a few of the seminars on a variety of fishing. Good temporary cure for cabin fever that hits about now.

We are opening up all of March since it’s getting warm so fast so I have some dates open to get after a true Lake Erie Trophy. I have a couple weekends and some week days also. Hello All,

Was reading last year’s early posts and saw that some were able to get out early on nice days before the wooden docks were put in at the State Parks. Was wondering where good places to launch might be this time of year. I cannot remember how much concrete there is at Catawba and Mazurik’s. I need to be able to tie up to park the truck and need a little extra time to warm up the I/O. I’m mobile so anywhere from Huron to PC would work for me. Thanks in advance. Am pumped up to get back out there.

My son in law lives in Montana and was ice fishing for perch over the weekend. They absolutely slayed the perch. I asked what they were using for bait and he told me that he recently was talking to some old timers and they showed him how to use fish eyes for bait. Yep, eyes from the perch they were catching. They showed him a little tool that they had made to pop the eyes right out and put 1 on a small hook, drop it just off the bottom and Bam, their catch rate improved like crazy. Plus, their bait hardly got stolen. They were catching at least 5 or 6 fish on just using 1 eye. Just curious, either ice fishing or just summer time fishing, if anyone has ever tried this technique on Lake Erie?

We have a 3 bedroom place about a 1/2 mile from Mazurik Boat launch. If you are interested I can send you a link with the info. It is geared more toward families with kids who go to Lakeside but there is plenty of parking for boats and an outdoor electric hookup to charge boat batteries.
